Dr. Dorothy Federman
Dr. Dorothy S. Federman is a native of Philadelphia, a 1968 graduate of Barnard College and a 1971 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. She did her internship and residency training at the University of Calgary, Alberta, becoming Board Certified in Family Practice in 1977. After practicing in Canada and England she came to Saranac Lake in 1976 to practice medicine with her husband Jay.

Dr. Federman runs a Family Practice with a strong interest in Women's Health. In addition, she serves as a staff physician with Planned Parenthood of Northern New York She holds a faculty position as clinical preceptor in the Department of Family Practice of Thomas Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, and is also on the Faculty of the Department of Family Practice at the University of Vermont. Dr. Federman is a member of the Board of Trustees of Trudeau Institute. Her interests, in addition to medicine, include piano, skiing, hiking and cooking. She is married to Dr. Jay Federman and they have three children.

Dr. Jay S. Federman
Dr. Jay S. Federman specializes in family practice, providing general medical care for pediatric through geriatric age ranges. Dr. Federman has a special interest in dermatology, providing consultative work and office based skin surgery for patients with dermatologic problems.

Dr. Federman is a native of Philadelphia, a 1970 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Family Practice at the University of Calgary, Alberta in 1972. He did his postgraduate training in Alberta. Canada and England before joining Medical Associates in 1975, He is affiliated with Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse as a rural preceptor in Family Practice. He was certified by the American Board of Family Practice in 1976.

Dr. Federman is a member of the local, county and state medical societies and is past President of the Medical Staff at Adirondack Medical Center as well as the former Medical Director at the same facility. Dr. Federman has been an active member of the Board of Trustees of the Adirondack Medical Center since 2003 and has been the Medical Director for the Physician Hospital Organization Trudeau Health Systems since 1997.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Federman's interests include hiking, skiing, and cooking.

Dr. L. Anthony Waickman
Dr. Tony Waickman moved to Saranac Lake in 1985 because he saw the opportunity to practice superb Internal Medicine and Cardiology, while enjoying the benefits of small town living. He has found both.

Dr. Waickman graduated Magna Cum Laude from Holy Cross College in 1973 and from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in 1977. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa and spent the next five years serving as cardiology research fellow, clinical fellow, Chief Resident and finally as Associate Professor there. Between 1983 and 1984, he worked in a remote mountain clinic in Nepal and then in a refugee camp in Thailand. He became Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1982 and Cardiology in 1985.

Over the years, Dr. Waickman has been part of the effort to bring progressvely higher quality cardiac services to Saranac Lake, including doppler echocardiography, nuclear cardiac imaging, venous duplex imaging and expanded non-invasive arterial studies.

Since moving to Saranac Lake, Dr. Waickman's greatest sense of satisfaction has come from being a part of the community, working with those who have chosen him as their doctor and along with raising his family. Of his many interests outside of medicine he has a particular interest in music . He is married with four children.

Dr. Peter B. Koppenheffer
Dr. Peter Koppenheffer graduated from The Wake Forest University in 2006 and from The Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2010. He graduated from The Wake Forest University in 2006 and from The Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2010. He completed his internship and residency in Family Medicine at the Cascades East Family Medicine Center in Klamath Falls, OR where he served as Chief Resident for the 2012-2013 year. Dr. Koppenheffer became Board Certified in Family Medicine in 2013 and is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice and the Oregon Academy of Family Practice.

When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Koppenheffer enjoys reading as well as many of the outdoor activities the Tri-Lakes area has to offer. He is a serious sports enthusiast with a special fondness for football.

Dr. Kristen Frank-Dixon
Dr. Kristen Frank-Dixon moved to Saranac Lake in 2014 to be closer to family.  She is a graduate of the University of Richmond, earned a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, and then went on to medical school at Albany Medical College graduating in 2006.

Her interest in rural family practice drew her to Alaska for residency training at the Alaska Family Medicine Residency and she became board certified in Family Medicine in 2009. She currently has a faculty position at Albany Medical College. Prior to her medical training Dr. Frank-Dixon worked on child survival and refugee relief programs in Western Africa.

Dr. Frank-Dixon specializes in Family Medicine, providing care to all ages from infancy to adult.  She also has a special interest in women's health and transgender health services. Outside of work, Dr. Frank-Dixon enjoys skiing, hiking, kayaking, sailing and being a mom to her two children.

Lisa O'Connor, PA-C
Lisa O'Connor, a North Country native, is a physician assistant who enjoys seeing patients of all ages. Lisa received a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1991 from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1995.

Lisa is nationally certified as a physician assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She also acts as a Clinical preceptor for PA students in their Family Medicine rotation at R.I.T.. When not busy at the office, Lisa enjoys traveling, reading and being a mom.
